Overview @ SAS
SAS was my first foray into the world of digital design agencies. The agency focused on design and communications for some of the world’s biggest corporate clients. Working in an agency with an impressive client list I have been able to hone my digital talents, adding practical project management and client handling skills to my creative ideas.
I joined SAS in February 2008 and within a year was managing key clients including BP, Coca Cola, Grosvenor, Slaughter & May and Herbert Smith, with projects ranging from 15k flash modules to 160k dynamic websites.
Overview David Beckham’s Line of Enquiry
I produced a 90 minute Christmas Day special for BBC Radio 2 based around an exclusive interview with David Beckham, focusing on his career and life so far. Working for production company TBI Media alongside presenter and show creator, Kate Thornton. I contributed to all aspects of the production including the overall show structure, script development, liaising with 19 Entertainment, assisting during the recording session and final post production.
This was a high profile commission by Radio 2 and garnered positive reviews across the board. The format has since continued with the Christmas 2008 Line of Enquiry featuring Noel Gallagher.
Overview I Wish I’d Thought Of That
One the driving factors behind my switching to a digital focus for my career was the year I spent working on I Wish I’d Thought Of That, a six part documentary series for Radio 2 which focused on telling the stories of digital innovators such as Google and Apple.
I was a series producer and was responsible for general research, guest booking and conducting interviews with 70 contributors from the likes of Bebo, the BBC, You Tube, MySpace, and Channel 4. This also included World Wide Web founder Tim Berners-Lee. I managed the writers during the scripting process and oversaw final post production.
The series was critics’ choice in both The Times and The Guardian.
Overview WinterKids
For two years I lived the rock and roll dream, managing a Guildford based five piece called the WinterKids. Fuelled by a DIY philosophy (as much necessity as theory!) I raised funding to record their debut album which was produced by John Cornfield [Supergrass. Muse]. The excitement around the record led to record deals I negotiated in Japan and Germany, as well as radio play on Radio 1 and 6 Music, and excellent single reviews in the NME, amongst others.
Taking the band on tour, I successfully organised a trip to music festival SXSW in Austin, Texas which was preceded by a US awareness campaign which led to a top 50 college radio hit. I left the group tantalizingly still on the brink of 'making it' and the band are still gigging and releasing records.
Overview Hayley Hutchinson
In 2004 I identified York based singer songwriter Hayley Hutchinson as a potential star, managing her for the next two years. Through a series of self financed and low key singles I secured her a worldwide deal with Gut Records; the debut single of which was The Guardian newspaper's Single of the Week and play listed on BBC Radio 2. Following vocal support from Terry Wogan, the album was well received within acoustic/folk circles and was picked up by various radio stations and elements of the music press.
Hayley still receives Radio 2 support in the promotion of her latest record, 'Love Songs For The Enemy'.
